As active outdoor people and ex world back-packers we understand what budget accommodation travellers and active outdoor people wish to find at the end of a hard day. Our new hostel was designed on personal experience, not on what other people provide. The luxury hostel has been awarded a Four Star grading by the English Tourism Council, so you can rest assured that is is clean, comfortable, warm and has a plentiful supply of hot water. There is even a sauna available for those tired aching limbs after a hard day's physical!

Yes, hostels are changing. Gone are the days of large dormitories with inadequate facilities and having to do the jobs requested by wardens. Our new hostel does not have young school parties (unless they book the entire hostel) so your rest should be assured. As the hostel is small, it is absolutely ideal for individuals, small groups or large groups who wish to book the entire hostel (24 beds), or for friends who just want a bedroom and bathroom to themselves. Our maximum bedroom size sleeps 6 and the smallest. sleeps 3, (although when we are not busy we can let this room for just two people). The flat rate is from £19.50 per person for individuals and small groups in 2010. Prices for the whole hostel bookings vary according the number in party, number of nights booked, time of year and which days of the week you wish to stay.

The five bedrooms are:

Helvellyn - 3 bedded room with its own bathroom next door
Fairfield  - 4 bedded room ensuite
Patterdale  - 5 bedded room ensuite
Lion & Lamb - 6 bedded room ensuite
Rydal - 6 bedded room ensuite

All rooms have superb mountain views!!
